Aberdeen Angus - is the full name of the cow, which is considered the most famous Scottish breed of meat direction. The species was bred in the first half of the nineteenth century in the territory of Scotland. A more precise place of origin is determined by the counties of Aberdinscher and Angus, which determined the name. Aberdeen is the result of improved local hornless cattle.
Breed gained fame a little later, by the end of the eighteenth century. The first tribal book was published in 1862. Already in 1878, the first purebred Aberdeen herd appeared in America. Nowadays, Angus is actively divorced in Australia, Argentina, Canada, New Zealand, Russia, the USA and Scotland. In the Russian Federation, the breed can most often be found in the steppe areas of the Volgograd and Orenburg regions, in the Altai and Stavropol regions, as well as in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Representatives of the breed Aberdeen-Angus are distinguished by the absence of horns. The main color of the suit is black, but sometimes individuals are brown or red. The body is relatively short, rounded. The line of the back is straight, the chest is deep and well developed, the limbs and neck are short. The muscles on the body are pronounced. The head of the animal is large, and the forehead is prominent.
The height of Angus at the withers reaches 1.2 meters, and the length of the body is 1.8. The depth of the sternum is about 6 meters, and width - 45-65 centimeters. The average weight of females is determined by the indicator of 500 kilograms, and males - 750. But with good fattening there are individuals whose mass can reach 600 and 950 kilograms, respectively. Cow skin is characterized by irregularities, but at the same time it is delicate, thin, elastic.
Slaughter yield of high-quality carcasses of cows is sixty percent. They contain a small amount of bones (about 17%). Meat in cooking is used to prepare tender, juicy steaks and is called marble. It has excellent taste and is filled with the thinnest layers of fat.
Milk productivity of cows is about two thousand kilograms per year, allowing you to feed fast-growing young animals in sufficient quantities. The first insemination of the cows occurs at the age of one and a half years. But still breeding these cows to get drinking milk is not profitable, because it is displayed in relatively small doses. Early maturity is transmitted through generations, which allows to get excellent meat for many years in a row.
The growth of Angus cows due to precocity stops quickly. Therefore, without constant movement, there is a tendency to the emergence of early obesity. Especially often this problem is faced by newborn calves. This breed of cows is widely used in breeding programs aimed at improving the quality of breeds of the combined and dairy areas. The genetic fund is developed quite well and is partially transferred when crossed with less developed breeds of cows.
The cows painlessly stay in conditions of both temperate and cold climates. Easy carry the wind and cold, which allows them to breed in different regions. They can be kept on pastures all year round, however, a damp atmosphere and soil have a detrimental effect on cows. Negative traits include aggressive and sometimes wild behavior, which sometimes makes it difficult to establish contact between the animal and the farmer. In general, this breed of cows does not cause much trouble and does not require specific conditions of detention.
