How can you tell if milk has been diluted with water? (Soltan)
It is easy to determine the milk fat content in ordinary home conditions. However, it is important to remember that this result will only be approximate. Set the exact fat content only in laboratory conditions. But if you want to find out if the milk has been diluted, you will need regular medical alcohol or just pure water.
So, combine one part of milk and two parts of alcohol in a container, shake well for one minute and watch the reaction. If only in the first 4-5 seconds white flakes start to stand out from the mixture, like curd masses - the percentage of fat content is above 3.5%. The longer the flakes form, the less quality the product. Of course, no one except the laboratory can say for sure. For a more accurate study, you can pass the analysis.
Take a glass of clean warm water and a small stream of milk pour in. In chemistry classes, you probably remember, we were always told that fats do not dissolve in this substance. Therefore, a good product will be collected on the surface of the glass for a long time and only a small fraction of it will dissolve. If you leave the mixture for about an hour, then after a while you will also see a greasy film on the surface of the white liquid. This indicator indicates good quality, since the faster milk is dissolved in water without a trace, the worse it will be.
