Turmans - Unique Air Equilibrists

Perhaps the most dexterous among pigeons in flight is a turman - a pigeon, which is represented by many breeds, and it will simply not work out to describe each in one material! We will talk about what are the Turman, how they differ, how to fly and which of them are most famous. And interesting videos and photos in the gallery will complement our review.

Features of the form

Turmans are a special breed of pigeons, which is famous for its flight qualities. Such birds are capable of making a coup and somersault in the air through the head, one wing or tail. Thoroughbred pigeon turman is capable of making a huge number of flip-flops in one flight. When such a bird is in the air, it resembles a wheel while driving. The spectacle is very spectacular, and many breeders try to maintain the skills of their pets with constant training.

The second name of foreign Turmans is scooters. This variety of pigeons is very numerous both in appearance and in color, size, manner of execution of flight elements. In the next video you can watch these beautiful birds in the nursery, as well as listen to information about some breeds directly from the breeder.

Charles Darwin conditionally divided all types of pigeons into four groups. Turmans belong to a heterogeneous group, which in addition to them also includes peacocks, English gulls, Jacobins (or Indian) and British turbines. Proceeding from this, the species of birds itself was bred in many countries of the world, relict breeds were bred both in Russia and in Australia and in European countries since the 17th century.

For example, ribbon turmans are considered an ancient Russian breed that appeared in the Russian city of Rzhev in the 17th century. Over the years, breeders from different countries tried to improve the exterior of birds and now tape pigeons live almost all over Russia and abroad.

The most characteristic feature is a small body and a small head. The eyes of these birds are dark, often with white eyelids. The neck is long, the forehead is high, and the beak is short. The tail is slightly raised, fluffed up, has 12 tail feathers. Turmans are ringless and cubs. The body can have a wide variety of colors. Legs are small, rather wide set. The average weight of such a pigeon is 800 grams.

Features of the flight

Features of flight among Turman of all breeds may differ, but it is characteristic of all for a long time to be in the air and even somersaults and reversals. However, not every bird can perform this element. Usually, adults in flight are kept in a group, as if competing in skill. Then they sit down to rest and take off again.

Since these birds constantly fly, they are very hardy and strong. During one flying session, one individual can make from 3 to 5 coups. In the next video you can watch the beautiful flight of Kursk turmans.

Types of Turman

Thurman is a pigeon of a large population, and it is difficult to convey how much diversity exists within a species. The most popular of all in Russia are Tape, Kursk and Orel. In Ukraine - Odessa and Ukrainian vertuny. Other breeds: Moscow Gray, Carpathian, Vienna, Stately, Chisinau, Krasnodar, and also Australian and Wolski. This, of course, is only part of the breed list, which can count up to hundreds of individuals.

In addition, the pedigree qualities of birds are divided into categories such as: long-billed, long-billed, long-billed, medium-billed, short-winged, tufted. As you can see, there are plenty of varieties, sometimes breeders even argue about the conformity and belonging of the breed characteristics of the Turman.

The tape turmans received their name thanks to a white “ribbon” at the end of the tail, which is clearly seen in the photo above. Their classic color is red. But there are also other colors: piebald (red chest and white wings), red-pinned (flight feathers partially white), pearl (colorful wings). The sizes of these birds are small, they fly perfectly and need constant loads. Their maintenance is not particularly troublesome, but they love cleanliness, warmth, good food and comfort.

Belt - excellent parents, but the beak of the nestlings is so short that they make special feeders for them. In the next video, we can watch these beautiful birds that walk in the yard of a private house.

Kursk Turmans are known throughout Russia, they were bred in the city of Kursk, for which they received their name. Their selection took place in a natural way, because the breeders did not control the breed signs. Kursk has a beautiful color - black, with white wings and a bright, brilliant sheen. In the breed are mixed Tuchery and Borodun, as well as tape. When flying, the Kurskians make a characteristic “stance” in the air, get used to the person perfectly, are unpretentious and calm. In the photo below we propose to see how the Kursk turman looks.

White Oryol (Crested)

An ancient and very beautiful breed, bred by Count Orlov-Chesmensky in the 18th century. The most popular and only color is white, but there are also diluted with other colors, which is considered a defect. The name "crested" joined the birds because of the small tuft on the back of the head.

Outwardly, these are neat, beautiful and even funny birds with large eyes. The constitution is closer to a miniature, the neck is approximately equal in length to two thirds of the body. The beak is short, pinkish in color.
