The miniature Dutch rabbit quickly gained popularity in many countries around the world and was named after the country in which it was bred. Since this happened in the 19th century, during this time it became very common among decorative domestic breeds. In another way it is called the Dutch. For industrial purposes, this species is rarely bred. But there is a homonymous breed, bred in England. Such rabbits are larger and have tasty meat.
Dutch rabbits have a rather interesting history of occurrence, which was associated with some confusion. Back in the distant 1800s, the business began with Danish rabbits, which were bred in the UK. They became the ancestors of modern meat "Dutch".
The Dutch rabbit was introduced to Russia in 1970. He was loved for tasty dietary meat and beautiful fur, often combining black and white in color or brown and white. In addition, there are colors ashy or blue, as well as red and gray. Different variations include more than 25 combinations.
