At first glance, the correct feeding of a piglet does not seem to be difficult at all. However, this is not exactly the case and without special knowledge a good result cannot be achieved. To feed the pigs for rapid growth you need to respect the rules.

Special diet

As a rule, in the first two weeks, small piglets should be fed only with sow milk. But this is only possible if there are few of them, and the pig has enough milk. In other cases, starting from 7-8 days of life, all babies of maternal nutrition are not enough. They are growing rapidly, gaining weight, so all the time they are trying to drag something from the trough of adult pigs. Approximately from this age you need to start feeding babies.

In the first month, the weight of pigs increases almost 5 times. But without the correct feed, this result is difficult to achieve. Since they have a small stomach, they need to be fed often, but in small portions. Up to about three weeks, their diet consists of 8 meals. It is very important to accustom animals to a variety of forages, but it should be done gradually.

Dairy period

Milk period in pigs lasts up to 2-2.5 months. Proper diet at this time is very important for growth. The ideal feeding is milk. You can give both whole and removed, but always warm. During the first months of life, babies need about 6-8 liters of whole and 5-6 liters of skim milk.

From the first weeks in the trough should be mineral supplements in the form of red clay, turf or charcoal. As soon as the babies learn to drink water and eat mineral supplements, you can include milk porridges, as well as porridge on the skimmer. As for vegetables, they can be gradually introduced into the diet of pigs, first ground, then later cut into cubes. Potatoes are best to boil and give with concentrates in the form of mashed potatoes.

From 10-15 days old piglets can be fed with grated carrots 10-15 grams per day. In summer, from the first week you can give plenty of greens and grass. From her kids grow rapidly and gain weight. From the third week injected boiled potatoes. If everything is done correctly, then by the end of the dairy period the weight of the animal should be on average 25 kilograms.

Keep the piglets clean, as they are very sensitive to diseases of the intestinal tract. To avoid frustration, all uneaten food must be thrown away, and the dishes should be thoroughly washed and treated with boiling water.

Rearing

This period covers the period from 2.5-3 to 4 months. As a rule, rearing is the basis for successful fattening of pigs. During this period, the most favorable conditions are created for the fastest growth, and the animals gain weight by increasing muscle mass.

Now in order for the gilt to grow better, it must be fed on thick porridge: pea, barley, oatmeal. Flavor can be bran, skim milk or whey, kitchen waste and all sorts of cleanings. From juicy feed, pigs eat grass and garden leaves, carrots, and potatoes. At 15-20 grams per day, the animal should receive salt and chalk. In winter time, rearing allows fertilizing in the form of silage, hay rot and chop, and root crops in double quantity.

After rearing, the period of fattening of domestic pigs begins. In about two to three months, the gilts should increase their weight from 50-60 kilograms to 100-110 kg.

In order for the pigs to grow quickly, starting from 3 months they need to be given concentrated feed.

Stern

In the process of growth of pigs should be remembered that the best result to achieve a good weight is a way to feed plenty. This means that you need as much food as an animal can eat at a time. But it is important to remember not only the quantity of food, but also its quality. Not all feed can be given equally. Some require special training.

For example, hay in the first days should be chopped and given steamed, green grass fresh, in small portions. If it is possible to feed the pigs, then at the very beginning it should be released on the meadow for no more than 1 hour. On other days, walking can be increased gradually, bringing up to 6-8 hours per day.

Carrots must be thoroughly washed, grated or cut into small pieces. Potatoes at first, it is desirable to peel and cook. Starting from the period of rearing, you can cook completely with the peel and even cook potato peelings separately. Mix potatoes better with pea flour, bran, chopped.

How to water?

For a good weight and height, piglets should get plenty of fresh clean water. To do this, in a special trough with slats, water is poured daily with a temperature not lower than 15 degrees. If animals frolicked and garbage got into the water, it should be replaced in time and the tank should be thoroughly washed. It is advisable to prevent anemia in the swill to add copper sulfate at the rate of 1 gram per 1 liter of water.
