Many of the bird breeders know that productivity depends directly on proper balanced nutrition. Before you feed the hens, you need to make a meal plan.
Let's say right away if feeding the hens correctly, they rush all year round. However, do not worry about this, because at home it is easy to make a diet and their diet. Grain, animal feed, mineral and vitamin supplements are all available today and available for purchase.
The main rule - laying hens should be fed twice a day, but each portion should contain all the necessary elements. To simplify the cooking process, you can purchase ready-made feed in the form of a mixture on the market. Then you yourself will need to include in the bird food only greens and vegetables, as well as grain.
Domestic chickens are more unpretentious in food, they can perfectly eat up a variety of waste from the table. Also in the villages they are given a cooked wet mash. In this case, it should be remembered that such feed spoils quickly, so it needs to be cooked only once. In general, it is advisable to fill the feeder in 2/3 parts so that the chickens do not scatter and trample the grain.
Grass, vegetable tops, greens from the garden - all of these are excellent vitamin supplements. Their number varies on whether birds walk on green lawns during the day or not. Another tip - young laying hens (48 weeks) can be fed 3-4 times a day.
So, in order for chickens to fly well and year-round, their diet should consist (per day) of:
- 120 grams of grain (40 - maize, 20 - wheat, 30 - barley, 30 - oats);
- 30 grams of wet mash;
- 100 grams of boiled potatoes;
- 7 grams of cake meal;
- 3 grams of chalk;
- 0.5 grams of salt;
- 2 grams of bone meal;
- 1 gram of yeast.
As you already understood, the daily ration of a hen should consist of grain, mixed fodder, greens, vegetables and mineral-vitamin bait. Part of the daily rate of grain is preferably steamed or germinated for better absorption. Also, a part of this grain norm can be replaced with wheat bran (25 grams), millet, and sunflower oil cake (20 grams).
Remember that the most harmful to the health of birds and their productivity is affected by systematic overfeeding or underfeeding, as well as non-compliance with the regime.
The first dacha feed should be carried out early in the morning, as soon as the birds wake up or immediately after turning on the light. At this time of day it is best to give wet mash, where to include boiled potatoes, ground grain, bone meal or crushed shells, food waste, salt.
In the evening, the hens should eat about an hour before sleep or before the lights go out. This meal should contain whole grains and all the norm of food that the birds did not get for the whole day. It is not recommended to mix the grain at one time, as chickens will choose what they like more. It is better to alternate: today - oats, tomorrow - wheat, the day after tomorrow - millet, etc.
How to calculate the norm by weight?
Of course, most directories offer us an approximate diet, calculated on the average weight of the chicken. Naturally, all your laying hens can have different weights depending on the breed, egg production. They will need to give a different amount of feed. For example, an ordinary poultry weighing up to 1.8 kilograms and with a productivity of 100 eggs per year needs 125 grams of feed per day. A chicken weighing 2 kilograms - 130 grams. Then for every 250 grams of weight, 10 grams is added. Also the increase takes into account the addition of eggs - by 30 + 100 grams.
We must not forget that chickens are not omnivores and can not be equated with a processing machine. Poultry should also receive high-quality food, not a variety of waste. If the hens give spoiled or bad grain, they can not only reduce egg production, but also get sick. This is especially true of young individuals, which strongly perceive food.
When composing a diet, pay attention to the breed of layers, as some require more than some kind of mineral supplements due to their genetic background. Such birds as Kuchinsky, New Hampshire, Welzumer need fasting days (especially during molting). It helps to protect birds from obesity. True, this does not mean that chickens are not fed at all, but only grain is replaced by greens and vegetables.
Grain mixtures are the basis of the nutrition of both layers and meat chickens. It helps to saturate the body with essential carbohydrates, vitamins and fiber. The basis is always used wheat or oats, supplements - millet, corn, barley.
- Corn is a valuable source of carbohydrates. It should be given in ground form, so it is easily digested. But it is important to remember that in its grains it is up to 6% fat, therefore it can be given infrequently and in small portions to light rocks;
- Wheat is probably the best feed for laying hens. It gives a lot of energy and increases productivity. In addition, grains contain a lot of protein, vitamins B and E. Wheat can replace 60% of the whole grain norm;
- Barley is a highly nutritious food, it has a lot of minerals;
- Oats are rich in fiber, therefore in the body of the bird it stimulates the growth of feathers. However, it is desirable to give this grain in germinated or steamed form;
- Rye - contains proteins and vitamins.
However, the grain contains little fat, calcium and phosphorus, vitamins, so other additives are needed.
It may consist of both vegetable and green mixtures, as well as special mixers of the purchased product. If you live in a private house, you have a vegetable garden and a household, then you should have no problems with compiling feed for birds. From the kitchen garden, as well as from the kitchen, there is always a part of the waste, which will perfectly fit as a bait of laying hens.
The concept of greens for chickens can include, as fresh grass, which birds can eat on their own during their walks, and specially prepared. The last category includes vegetable tops, nettles, dandelion, alfalfa, clover, green peas and beans. Such succulent feed should be thoroughly chopped and given fresh. Greens improve digestion and give eggs an attractive appearance.
Root vegetables and vegetables
Potatoes, beets and cabbage - an excellent compound feed for layers. You can boil them (always potatoes), chop, and then mix with bone meal or chop in the form of wet mash. Such vegetable porridge perfectly satisfies the hunger of birds and saturates their body with minerals and fiber.
Do not forget, even the health and immunity of poultry depends on the correct diet.
