Agarana - pigeons, relatives of Iranian birds, were brought to Turkmenistan from the western part of Afghanistan. We invite you to learn more about what kind of birds and what characteristics this breed has.
Typical Turkmen pigeons found everywhere in the country. If you translate the name from Turkmen, it becomes clear why it means "camel milk cream" - this is the color of classic Turkmen battle. All members of the breed are fighting birds. This means that the pigeon, holding in the air, makes a roll (fight) over the head. They also have the ability to go out into a pillar, which is far from all of the high flying.
The population size is small, it can be said that ethnically this bird belongs only to Turkmenistan, the nearest regions and, of course, the territories of Iran and Pakistan. Externally, agarana look very impressive. They have excellent data, the bird is considered to be very beautiful, both at rest and in flight. We will tell about how they fly a little later.
Beautiful pigeon agarana looks impressive. He has a strong body and powerful wings, bred them just for beauty, not for slaughter. Sometimes they use agarana as wedding pigeons, although they have almost no pure white color. Modern agarana are light brown, with a monochromatic pattern and colorful tail. There are also gray representatives of this breed.
Other types of colors: gray, pale yellow, golden, light brown. A variety of plumage colors well illustrate the photo.
The pigeon has a rounded wide head without features, gray or yellow-orange eyes, a neat short and light beak. The forehead with a beak is located at an obtuse angle, the wax is small. Females are more graceful and their beak is thinner. Birds of both sexes have a wide chest, a streamlined body, long wings lying folded on the tail. The plumage of agarana is thick and dense, with fluffy white feathers on its legs.
When in the air, the bird hangs vertically, while rotating along an axis. For such a property, these pigeons are greatly appreciated by breeders. This can be seen well in the photo attached in the article above. The flight duration is short, it reaches 4 hours, but it’s hard not to notice how graceful the agaranas are in flight!
