What can feed Vietnamese piglets

The industrial housing and breeding of visually bruised pigs in the first place puts their food, so you immediately need to decide what to feed the Vietnamese pigs and in what amounts. These animals have a short digestive system with thin intestinal walls, and far from any food they digest with the same efficiency. Properly formulated diet allows you to grow healthy and well-fed "Vietnamese", the slaughter of which will give up to 65% yield of juicy and delicious meat with a small amount of fat.

Pigs with a great appetite

Vietnamese piglets are distinguished by unpretentiousness, not only in the content, but also feeding. They can eat completely different foods, including waste from the human table. However, with such feeding sharply increases the risk of obesity and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Sick pigs lose their appetite, feel lethargy and apathy, and gain weight very poorly, creating problems for the farmer.

If the pig is properly cared for and a proper diet is observed, the pig will have a plump belly, not hidden under a rich fat layer. The ribs of such a visually blasted pig can be easily felt, and there is no layer of hanging fat on the legs.

If meat gilt shows signs of obesity, this indicates improper feeding, and the farmer should urgently reconsider the approach to feeding animals. Otherwise, during slaughter the carcass will be overly filled with fatty deposits, which will drastically reduce meat quality and income.

Grain Supplements Required

Industrial breeding of Vietnamese low-fat piglets, considered to be herbivores, differs somewhat from feeding pigs to familiar breeds. But the widespread view that it is enough to give them an abundant green mass to feed the animals of the Asian breed is only partially true.

With constant feeding, the grass mass of gilts feels quite well, but they will set the lethal weight very slowly. It is not at all profitable for pig breeders who intend to receive and sell a large quantity of high-quality pork in the trade network.

For rapid weight gain, in addition to green food and special feed additives, Vietnamese pigs are required to give grain mixtures, the amount of which can reach 20% of the total daily diet.

The optimal cereal mixture for young stock consists of:

  • 40% barley;
  • 30% wheat feed varieties;
  • 10% oats;
  • 10% pea;
  • 10% corn.

It is believed that the optimal amount of feed consumed by a perish-bog pig per day should be from 2 to 2.5% of its own weight. With such feeding, the pigs begin to grow rapidly, gaining industrial weight by 7-8 months.

Dry grain is poorly digested

Professional breeders of Asian pigs claim that the best industrial growth is shown by piglets receiving feed, which contain up to 15% of fiber, 12% of protein and 2% of fat. The diet of Vietnamese piglets must necessarily include cereal supplements rich in protein and vegetable fats.

The intestine of the herbivorous Vietnamese pig is short and thin. Food passes through it quickly, for a long time without stagnating. That is why it is necessary to feed the pigs often and little by little.

It is categorically not recommended to give them protein-rich grains - wheat, rye, oats in their pure form. Pigs eat such food with pleasure, but practically do not assimilate it, removing it from the body along with the waste of its vital activity.

The situation is quite different when the farmer adds ground and slightly roasted grain to the trough, or it has been steamed in boiled water and brought to the state of porridge.

Complete nutrition with soft food

Although the stomach of fattening piglets does not digest whole grains, thanks to the acid-base medium, the splitting of crushed grain mixtures and porridges is very good, allowing the pig to quickly gain weight. A huge role in this process is played by saliva given to animals during chewing of food.

Abundant salivation is possible only with the consumption of thickened porridge, so adding liquid feedings to food is impractical and harmful.

That is why, even giving vegetable food to vislobryuhim pigs, it is necessary to grind it in advance on a pruner or pereter on a special grater. This simple procedure allows the farmer to significantly reduce the cost of feed spent on feeding Vietnamese piglets, which will begin to steadily increase their weight.

Periodic feeding of piglets with roasted whole grains of easily digestible barley allows the pig's jaw apparatus to be maintained in working condition, avoiding inflammation of the teeth and gums.

Love appetizing food

The best grain feed for pigs is barley, the structure of which is rich in protein, easily digested by the body of a pig. Whisker piglets are gaining weight well when feeding porridges cooked from wheat-rye mixtures.

The crushed mixture is poured boiling water and cooked until a homogeneous porridge. This method of preparation is used in large pig farms, whose owners necessarily saturate the prepared food with vitamins.

Small private producers prefer to steam up porridge. With this approach, vitamins are preserved in the feed in order to maintain the health of the pig.

More detail in the article "On feeding Vietnamese pigs at home."

When steaming porridge ratio of feed and water should be 1: 2. When the piglets are filled with boiling water, the piglets should be kept warm for at least 12 hours before being dispensed. This method of preparation is considered the most optimal, and feeding is almost completely absorbed by the body of the animal.

Piglets love to eat, so their food must be salted, and also periodically saturate with a small amount of fat.

For this, fish oil is great, which is added at the rate of 2 tablespoons per bucket of cereal.

Fattening of milk pigs

Owners of pig farms can independently take care of the offspring of several nursing sows, or purchase Vietnamese dairy piglets for fattening.

In the first case, you need to be very careful about fattening dairy pigs, which require special care and nutrition. Babies should be required to eat maternal milk, to which practically from the first days of life are added vitamins and additional feeds that can strengthen the immune system of the animal, forming a powerful skeletal system and rapidly developing muscle tissue.

If you gradually do not feed babies with adult food, then after the mandatory transition to industrial feed, the animal may develop digestive disorders, and this leads to a general decrease in appetite and slow growth.

The table of introduction of feed into the diet of milk pigs by age:

Prevent obesity

When fattening suckling pigs, babies should not only receive special care. In the organization of food means free access to constantly replaceable drinkers with heated purified water. It is best to pre-boil it, avoiding the ingress of various infections and intestinal parasites into the liquid.

It is believed that kids need to give less oatmeal and corn porridge. These products are perfectly absorbed by the body of piglets, leading to a rapid increase in their fatty tissue.

Pigs begin to suffer from obesity, move a little and have a painful look. Even during industrial fattening, such pigs do not gain muscle mass, and their meat after slaughter does not have high quality indicators.

Nevertheless, the addition of up to 10% of oatmeal and corn porridge of the total amount of complementary foods is quite acceptable and can enhance the health of the piglet.

Go to adult feed

At about a month of age, a piglet is gradually weaning from the mother's breast and transferred to adult feed. This is quite a difficult period, which requires special attention from the pig breeder.

The diet for piglets from 1 to 6 months has its own characteristics associated with the physiological development of animals accustomed to the constant presence of mother's milk. Whispering pigs try to eat a little, but often.

Remember that the concept of how to properly feed the lop-eared piglets, above all, implies the frequency of food intake. Before the age of 2 months it is recommended to do this at least six times a day, gradually reducing the number of receptions.

Caring for babies requires the presence of a walking area, in which there should be a small amount of green fodder. This allows the piglets to independently find food and get used to an independent lifestyle.

Ordinary green grass is excellent for this, including weeds, alfalfa, clover, and tributary, as well as finely chopped carrots, beets, potatoes and other vegetables.

Vietnamese lop-eared piglets at the genetic level are able to identify poisonous plants and never eat them.

Frequent meals with added vitamins

For two-month-old piglets that are starting to gain weight, the diet should be 20% made up of proteins, and the amount of poorly digestible fiber should be reduced to 3%.

For the formation of a full-fledged muscular system, growing pigs need large amounts of vitamin E and selenium, which are contained in seedlings of grains.

Therefore, it is recommended to add sprouted barley, wheat and rye seeds to feed. It is well proven to add two tablespoons of fish oil to 1 bucket cooked with milk or porridge.

Adding fish oil saturates the body of the Vietnamese pig with vitamin D and strengthens the skeletal system, so that the short legs of a piglet can easily withstand its bulky body.

The average feeding rate of Vietnamese piglets of this age is calculated as 2.5% of the total pig weight, divided into 6-7 meals. Animal feeding should be carried out regularly in small doses, and livestock owners should be closely monitored so that the food in the feeders does not remain under-eaten.

Younger piglets can gradually increase the amount of feed, and the number of feedings can be gradually reduced to three per day. With this approach, gilts quickly gain weight and feel very good.

Follow the feeding trough

Optimal fattening of Vietnamese piglets between 2 and 4 months of age provides for three meals a day, approximately at regular intervals. Gradually, boiled potatoes, beets and pumpkin are introduced into the diet. They are well absorbed and visually bruised pigs will definitely gain weight.

The average daily weight gain during this period is about 350 g, but the piglets need special care and at least 3 kg of feed per day.

Be sure to add to the food nettle, legumes, milk whey and salt, which gives additional taste. You should make sure that the food is not too much, because the Vietnamese piglets carefully watch what they eat and can sort out the products.

If you find chewed food in the walking area, which the pig has spat out, then this is the first sign of overfeeding and you should urgently reduce the diet.

Do not forget to constantly change the water, which should be warm and fresh.

Gilts need protein

From 3 months the nutrition of the lop-eared piglets changes somewhat. They begin to strengthen the muscular system, there comes a period of onset of puberty, which ends on average by 4-4.5 months.

During this period, the maintenance of Vietnamese pigs requires the addition to their diet of a large amount of protein foods, which should be up to 40% of their daily diet. Whistling piglet is able to eat a lot, so it should be somewhat limited, giving about 4 kg of grain feed per day.

During this period, so that the pigs do not gain excess fat, they give less legumes and oats, although the number of raw vegetables can become a bit large. Especially growing gilts like carrots, pumpkins, apples, pears, raw and boiled potatoes.

Now let us tell you whether it is possible to add feed beets to the piglets, and how much. For Vietnamese piglets there are no special restrictions in the form of food, but with the beet need to be more careful.

The fact is that excessive consumption of this root can cause bloating in piglets, which will inevitably affect their weight gain. Therefore, it is possible to give beets, but this should be done very moderately.

By 6 months, piglets should be smoothly transferred to two meals a day, and their daily ration should be about 6 kg of various feeds, including greens, hay, vegetables and fruits.

Pre-slaughter piglet feeding

At about 7 months, the main set of muscle mass is completed, and the fat layer begins to form in the pigs. At this time, the piglet can begin to give oatmeal, which makes it possible within 1-2 months to increase the subcutaneous fat layer with a thickness of 3-3.5 cm.

For a set of pigs fat mass are great porridge from peas and other legumes, corn, an abundance of vegetables. You can use specially sold granular feed, which can be wet and loose. In winter, you can add acorns to food.

In the summer, animals should be able to spend a lot of time on the air, finding green vegetation on their own. In large farms, plots can specially sow with grass, or bring it from the fields, together with weeds harvested naturally.

During this period, there is a slaughter of pigs, reaching an industrial weight of 70-80 kg, which can be found in the article "Slaughter of the viscosebry pig".
