Every person at least once in his life has heard a cow mumble or make a sound similar to this. Why is it happening, what is behind these familiar sounds "mu", whether there are any differences between them - all this will be discussed below. From an early age, children are taught that this pet “talks” with the help of lowing sounds, which is reflected in folklore, children's fairy tales and songs. But the lowing may be different. It is caused by various reasons, as it makes sense to talk in more detail.
What causes cow moo
Those people who have many years of experience in cattle breeding are well aware of the fact that a cow is not moaning for a reason. This is due to certain events in her life. Well-fed, satisfied with what is happening around and calm animals, not from that, will not make any sounds for anything.
The reasons may be different, but you should always pay attention to this fact, because in this way the cows signal something, show their wishes, make requests. Mumbling animal communicates with the outside world and with man.
So why does a cow still make different sounds? This usually occurs in connection with such situations:
- physical discomfort, such as hunger or thirst;
- when an animal is separated from calves, calling or looking for them;
- pain associated with the injury;
- long absence of milking;
- when cows find themselves in a situation that is unfamiliar to them, they can moan for a long time, often and often, and in fact even scream;
- during the onset of sexual activity, which usually lasts for two days.
If the moo's mooing does not contain alarming notes and quickly stops, then there is no cause for concern. But if a cow constantly moos and does it long and loudly, it means that there are some problems.
All animals sound different
To an uninitiated person, far from the livestock area, it would seem that the cows make the same sounds. However, to be more attentive, it is easy to notice that they moo in different ways. Moreover, the same chick can "sound" differently in different situations. Long contact with animals, care and observation of them allows us to understand why they can moo, with what reasons this is connected, and whether sounds are made a problem that requires urgent solutions.
Much will depend on the mood or desires of the cows, on the situation in which they find themselves. For example, a bull makes sounds that cannot be confused with the mooing of a heifer, and the mooing of a calf cannot be confused with the "sound" of an adult animal. In addition, this aspect is also influenced by the breed of a particular individual, its individual characteristics and characteristics.
The tone of the sound, its duration and frequency - all this can be different even for one animal depending on the events occurring in its life.
In some cultures, many traditions are associated with cows, up to their deification and interpretation as sacred animals, for example, in India. In our country, this did not happen, but their importance for the household is difficult to overestimate. Accordingly, this is reflected in various signs and superstitions.
So, it is considered that a long lowing in the morning is a harbinger of receiving bad news. According to beliefs, the long mooing of a cow also promises nothing good for the owners. And here, if a bull was noted by similar behavior, then it is on the contrary considered a good sign.
Often there is a direct connection in the beliefs between the sound of the animal and the character and even the fate of its owner. So, it is customary to believe that when cows moo, their master is angry or just angry.
And if a cow roars and begins to "cry", then the popular belief prophesies a sad fate to the owner, right up to a quick death. Naturally, these and others will have no scientific substantiation. Each person decides for himself whether he should believe in them or not.
