Geese are very unpretentious in the diet. Their maintenance and feeding is much cheaper than, for example, curia. And all due to the fact that most of the year they eat pasture and autumn is no exception. But there are several features that you need to know. So, about how to feed the geese in the fall, read on.
Features feeding geese in the autumn
Autumn feeding of these birds is not much different from the summer. This is due to the fact that often in warm regions until late autumn they spend all day, as in the summer, on pastures. Their diet is mainly served by greens, as well as vegetable waste. But since the fall of the day becomes shorter, the amount of greens eaten throughout the day is not enough. To eliminate this problem, the bird is fed masks in which chopped vegetables collected in the city are added.
It should also be remembered that with the onset of autumn it is necessary to gradually feed the geese for the winter. Such fattening is needed to prepare the bird for the onset of the egg production period, during which it usually loses weight. With the onset of autumn, the ration of the goose should be as saturated as possible with succulent and nutritious carbohydrate foods. The basis of such feed will serve well as beets and potatoes.
Also memorable about hay dust or ground hay. The following is the daily ration of an adult goose when feeding in the autumn:
- boiled potatoes or sugar beets - 500 g;
- carrots - about 100 g;
- hay dust - 100-150 g;
- mineral feed - up to 25 g.
The rest of the diet consists of concentrates. A mineral feed can be given not only with mash, but also in pure form. In order to diversify the diet, all the waste of greenery that was on the plot is well suited. These are cabbage leaves, carrot tops, beet tops, small carrot root vegetables, etc.
A good option would be to add to the feed of vegetable protein feed. Still great for geese fit soaked peas, beans and a variety of cake. You can also feed them boiled and chopped small fish, fish and meat and bone meal. It would be nice to diversify the diet with cottage cheese and milk.
All food is given to the bird, either in the form of grain, or in the form of flour mixers, which can be given both steamed and dry. The ideal option would be to feed not solid, but germinated grain. It should also be remembered that giving the geese to drink water from under boiled potatoes is impossible. It contains a large amount of toxic substance solanine, which can greatly harm the bird.
