The breed of bulls Hereford today is the most popular in the world. In general classification, it belongs to the meat type and was bred in England in the county of Herefordshire as early as the 18th century. Today these beauties are widespread in Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Kazakhstan. As for our country, here the Hereford can be found in the Far East and Siberia. By the way, it was on the basis of these representatives that the Kazakh white-headed breed was bred.

Inference history

According to historical data, the Herefords were obtained from one type of red cows raised in the 18th century in England. British breeders conceived to improve the muscle mass of males and increase their size for further productive use of the meat type. In 1846, the breed received official recognition and its first English stud book was instituted.

In 1928, some representatives of this breed were brought to the USSR. Since then, it began to be used in factories and breeding farms for the improvement of domestic meat and milk and meat cows. In particular, the Hereford bulls are still the basis for obtaining the Kazakh white-headed cow. In subsequent years, Soviet breeders managed to create their powerful Hereford population, which was called the "Siberian selection".

External characteristic

As seen in the photo and video about this breed, the Herefords gobies are typical representatives of the meat type. They are distinguished by a barrel-shaped body, rounded belly with a strongly protruding sternum. They have a rather short, but very powerful neck, wide withers, strong squat limbs and a straight back.

Herefords have only one color: a red body with a white head, white legs and lower body. Height in withers is reached by adult representatives about 130 centimeters, the average weight is 900-1300 kilograms.

Herefords are probably the most popular among bulls. They are distinguished by excellent both external data and excellent genetics. Often, they are used to improve other breeds. Today it is known that Herefords was used for 30 breeds.
