Hello. I have an Ideal hen incubator, now I am breeding chickens a second time. At the first withdrawal of 10 eggs, two survived and then problems with their legs. Now the second time has laid, today is 24 days silence. And for the first time the same thing, the conclusion was for 24 days. I do everything according to the book, I don’t move away from the incubator, I do the turning of the trays manually. Tell me, what's the problem? I would be very grateful to you! (Vera)
You know, your problem is not unique. A lot of people complain that there are delays when using an incubator. In any case, I can say for sure - something does not meet the standards, there is some kind of failure of the incubation process. First of all, this is indicated by a low withdrawal percentage in your first case. If everything happens correctly, the parameters are met, then at least 7 chickens should have hatched out of 10.
You did not specify anything about the temperature parameters and moisture. This is the most important in the process of ripening. Do not forget that in natural conditions the hen creates a temperature on the eggs of about 37.5-37.7 degrees. Humidity should also not be large, it causes a hatching delay. If these parameters are met correctly, then there can be bad gas exchange. In other words, the eggs have little oxygen due to which its maturation is disturbed.
Write in more detail aspects of the entire incubation period, what you are doing and how you are following the instructions. Perhaps there are errors in the device itself. This is quite common. For more information on the topic can be found on our website, or rather in the article "The process of incubation or how life begins inside the egg.
