Beekeepers of all countries probably would like to compete in their records of earning honey for the season. And how much honey from one hive per year can be collected, subject to compliance with all the rules of the apiary? We will try to answer this question in our article.
Maximum honey collection from one hive
How much honey gives one hive will be difficult to say, but practicing beekeepers collect about 16 kg of honey from one store. Provided that in one piece of evidence such frames will be 11, and on each of them there will be approximately one and a half kilograms of sweet delicacy. Accordingly, you can calculate your honey profit by multiplying the result from one hive by their number in the apiary. Nevertheless, the year is not necessary for the year, and in a dry over-measure or cold summer there may be a banal “not season” for honey.
For the season
In general, for the summer season of honey collection, the productivity of one hive (one bee colony) is about 30 kg of honey, and sometimes the figure reaches 45 kg. But only with favorable factors (such as the weather, location near honey plants, and even the breed of bees). If the year is given with abundant flowering, you can hope for record results. However, do not expect records from the young bee colony. High results in honey production require great effort.
And how much can you collect in a year? This figure is calculated from the time of the first pumping and before the bees leave for wintering and ranges from 100 to 120 kg from the apiary in the best, productive months. When focusing on these numbers, you need to consider that not all storeframes are filled to the end, some of the product will still remain in the comb. Consequently, the desired number to collect may be slightly less than planned.
Tips from experienced beekeepers
In order to have a lot of honey in the hives, follow the rules that already experienced beekeepers follow. First of all, place the hives as close as possible to the place of large areas of honey plants. Some beekeepers specially travel to such places, transporting their hives. This is called wandering.
The method is quite expensive, but justifies itself. Particularly often used in mountainous areas or where there are many honey fields near the apiary. During the year you can make at least 3-4 migrations. The safest distance is up to 30 km in the radius of the place of constant wintering of bees.
Strong family and space
Another method of good honey harvesting is the removal of a strong bee colony within one hive. Such work is conducted all year round, this painstaking work, and it requires careful sanitization of insects, and comfortable evidence, and feeding in the right season, and much more. A special place in the extraction of honey and occupy a truly industrious bees. What does it mean? Insects should not be inactive.
In the old books on beekeeping, it says that the larger the hive, the more comfortable it is for striped workers. This is understandable, by increasing the usable area you will kill two birds with one stone: avoid overheating of insects in tight spaces, and also give them more work to fill the combs. On the increased territory there will be more worries about feeding the brood, and during the season such a hive will definitely bring more honey, however, as well as for the year.
Shade the hives, because overheating them in the sun makes the bees sluggish, weak, passive. You should also monitor the brood, in time removing the filled frame. Otherwise, in the bee house of any size there will be no place for honey! Practicing and reporting wax combs in evidence, their hardworking insects must be filled.
What if there are no honey plants nearby?
If there are no vast territories with honey plants near your apiary, there is a way out! Experienced beekeepers are advised to pre-sow near to the site (1-5 km) or on the site itself weed honey plants. These include burdock, cornflower, colza, motherwort, catnip, common flaxweed. Most often, beehives are located in the villa area, which means that the forest is nearby, or fields. Therefore, try to determine in advance the degree of planting with wild grasses around the land, and next year you will be able to get a harvest.
